Loving this time of year!

The last few weekends we have had lots of holiday cheer! The frist weekend of December, Jose and I made the trip out to “somewhere” far north east of Temecula to have a Christmas Dinner Party with his coworkers. We had such a great time with lots of great food.

Last Friday I had a Pajama Christmas party with some of the ladies from work…wine, food and presents is always a winning combination for us gals. Followed by my work’s annual employee’s association dinner…at Café Sevillas which is such a fun place we had such a great time. If you have ever thought about going there for dinner you should definitely give it a try they have great food, yummy drinks and fun entertainment. With Café Sevillas (we went to the one in Riverside) you are for sure in for a fun night!

Toys + Boys = LOTS OF SAND!

Well last month (early November) we headed to Glamis to take out our toys which now is an annual thing in our house. We have been going to Glamis for the last 6 years. This last trip was the first one for my family and now my Dad really enjoys it, so much we already have another trip planned for January. We had a great group with us; we did a lot of riding and cooking.

We had a great time and we had the perfect weather!

Here are some pictures my sister took while we were there for the weekend.

Brazilian Blowout

I have wanted to get it done for awhile now but was waiting for someone I knew to get it done first. Once one of my firends had it done I made an appointment with her hair stylist right away.

So this past Friday I did it...I got the Brazilian Blowout!!! I love it!! My hair feels great and looks great. After 3 hours and having 6 inches cut off...it is so soft and so easy to work with. Doing my hair nomally takes so much time and effort and to get my hair straight well that is a process in it self but now...Lets just say I have more time to do other things.

Here are a few pictures of before and after. So if you are thinking about getting it done and have questions let me know. By the way it was less than $300.00!! Normally the rate is between $300 - $400 more if you have long hair, so I found a great deal!!!

Before - My hair long and curly

After - Straight (looks like the same length but it is less than when i had it curly)

It's been awhile...

I have been wanting to blog for awhile now but just have not found the time. I have had a lot going on….I wanted to do a separate post about our trip to Mexico and how excited I was to share the experience with my sister Cassie. It was her first real big trip on a plane. As some of you know Cassie is a photographer and of course she took her camera so if you haven’t seen her photos from our trip here are a few links to see what we did.

Jose and I have been doing a lot together, spending as much time we can. It’s not often that he is home every day of the week. So since he hasn’t been traveling we have been enjoying our time together. One thing we have been doing is going to our favorite baseball team’s games. Mind you they didn’t play their best this season but they are still our favorite. We just love the Dodgers!!! Jose even got his favorite player to sign his favorite jersey…Fernando “El Toro” Valenzuela that was definitely a high note for him.

It is hard to believe that it’s already the middle of October and that September just came and went!! But it is time for my favorite time of year the Holidays!!!! So I am hoping that I will be better at keeping up with what is going on and keep everyone updated.

Until next time!!

Another Book Series!!!

Since I got my e-reader I have been on a mission to read at least one book a month and so far so good I am almost done with my third book…reading Eat Pray Love at the moment but before I get into that book anymore I have to post about the other two I finished it is part of a series by Carrie Ryan and I must say she is such a great writer…storyteller…I really enjoyed reading her books.

Book one is The Forest of Hands and Teeth which I totally finished within a matter of days (I felt like I was reading another twilight book but not as corny).

Book two The Dead-Tossed Waves took me a little longer but I really got into it once I got past the first section and now I can’t wait to read the third book The Dark and Hollow Places but of course I have to wait till March 2011…totally ready to read it now.

So if you haven’t heard of the series and want to get a taste of them check out her website!!

Check it out!!

Well I recently purchased the Sony Reader Touch Edition (I got the red one) and let me know tell you…I just love it!!! I have only had it since Friday and I have already gone through 1 book and currently reading my second. It is literally the best thing I have bought for myself in a very long time. So if you have been thinking about it (I had for about a year now) you should definitely (haha thanks andrew!!) purchase it. I take it everywhere I go; it is so light weight and compact. I currently have over 10 books save to it now…so I am carrying over 10 books where ever I go and you would never know it.

Here is the spec. on the Reader;
Thinner, smaller and lighter than most magazines, the Reader Touch Edition lets you access up to 350 (or more with memory expansion card slots) of your favorite books from anywhere. The intuitive 6" touchscreen display makes navigation a breeze, letting you turn pages with the swipe of a finger. An included stylus offers freehand highlighting and annotation. With support for multiple file formats including ePub and PDF, you can enjoy books from more places, including over one million eBooks available at the Sony Reader Store.

So if you love to read (like I do) or want to read but never have the time to go buy the latest book the Reader makes it so easy to pick up the habitat again.

Huntington Garden

Wow it has been forever since I have blogged about anything…haha but boy do I have a lot to blog about. So much has been going on all good too!!

This past Sunday I ended up at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino with the ladies from work….let me tell you how great it is to have such great girlfriends around all the time…we have so much fun at work we still get together outside of work as if we haven’t seen enough of each during the week…my poor hubby, I spend more time with the girls from work than I do him. Anyway back to the Huntington…we went out there to celebrate Vivian’s 27th birthday at the Rose Tea Room and spend a day checking out the gardens. It was a few of the girls first time checking it out so we did the whole walk through which I love doing especially since its spring and with all the colors and textures that are going on in the gardens it is just amazing…I was very happy to finally see the Chinese Garden the last time I was there is was still under construction so of course it was one of the first of the gardens we got to check out.

By the way if you ever wanted to know if the Rose Tea Room at the Huntington is worth it let me just say we are planning on going again for the food and of course the TEA!!! It was so good and we had such a fun time, our server was great…super sweet and very on top of it. Side note…it isn’t as tame as most tea rooms have been in the past…small room lots of people but still was great…we didn’t have to tone down our voices since we can get pretty loud. Also be sure to have a reservation when you go for Tea makes for less waiting.

Enjoy the photos!!

The Queen of Hearts...

Okay so I thought it was time for me to post about my mom’s 50th “unbirthday” celebration I hosted with my sisters this past weekend at our place in Corona.

My mom’s birthday lands on Valentines Day so we had to do something big for the 50th birthday and tie in Valentines Day without the party being to much about V-day…so I came up with the idea of doing the Queen of Hearts since she is the Queen in our family and she is a heart baby. My mom did not like the idea of turning 50 so we thought we would continue with the theme of Alice in Wonderland and have an “unbirthday” which was perfect.

My sister Cassie made the invitations and let me know tell you they were a big hit everyone loved them….aren’t they cute, they were postcards…

Anyway we had a great cocktail party; all the drinks were red, everyone was asked to wear either white or black and of course our Mom wore red…lots of red/heart shaped inspired desserts and a pink candy bar. Everyone had a great time and I was so happy when it was over I was exhausted, thank goodness for my sisters who helped out so much with the party. Here are a few photos taken by my sister Cassie the photographer, production artist and designer (http://cleverblue.net/) by the way she is great for parties.

My mom called with good news….

Its great news for the current situation my family is in…. “The doctor removed everything they had hoped to and the surgery went great… everything is good…”

This past weekend I got call about my Nina/Tia (godmother, my mom’s sister), her doctors had found some breast calcifications…a few clusters. I was told that the clusters found were cancerous and that this Wednesday (Today) she would have surgery to have the clusters removed. Once the clusters have been removed she would start one round radiation therapy to be on the safe side. I was told that she is basically at stage 0 of breast cancer….0??? That means what? Well that they found it in time, any more time that would have past she would be at any one of the 4 stages of breast cancer. When my grandmother was diagnosed in 2000 she was in stage 4, was given a few months to live and started treatment right away and had lived a few more years before she past away in 2003.

Well first thought that came to mind was “What?!?!?…Why?!?!...Another family member within 8 months!!! Mind you it’s scary to have a person in your family die from cancer but to now have two more members of your family with cancer. I have talked about it before in October when I did the Breast Cancer walk in Temecula; my Tia’s who are dealing, living and fighting breast cancer. These women are close to my heart, they are my mom’s sisters, my Tia’s (aunts) and special people with big hearts.

So I am writing this post more as a venting session for myself and for my girlfriends that read this…make sure you get checked out…push the women in your family to get checked and donate to whatever breast cancer cause you feel most comfortable with to help raise awareness and research. October is breast cancer month but women who have breast cancer don’t have it for just one month, and families don’t have breast cancer as a member of their family for a month so don’t just think about it the month of October…think about it every month because I know I do every time I think about my family.
